Is belief in Christ simply a mental state of recognizing historical events that are true or might it be an actual transformation that takes place in the spiritual realm? What do you believe and what does your belief mean? There is an understanding of the work that Christ did on the cross that can revolutionize how you live. Let’s dive deeper into how belief can quite literally change who you are and how you act.

The suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus combined is the portrayal of how He died in the flesh and resurrected into a spiritual dimension. Yet, we see in the post-resurrection accounts in Scripture that He could be visible to flesh, namely His disciples and other eyewitnesses. Now that historical reality is, and can be applied today, that even as we believe in Jesus, there’s another dimension in us, beyond our minds and bodies, that is re-birthed in us. An awesome truth of Christianity is that there is a true, spiritual dimension that is re-birthed in man by the spirit of God through His Word when we believe in Jesus Christ.

When we believe in what Jesus achieved on the cross, this triggers a supernatural act of God in man. The spirit of man begins to commune with the Spirit of God. Jesus is calling us to the reality of the spirit of God taking residence in the spirit of man, cognitively being recognized by the mind of man, so that the mind of man is transformed to become the mind of Christ. This is the Christian journey! Here is where the cosmic vacuum is filled; the mirage of life is filled; where our antenna that seeks out spiritual connection makes contact; where the identity of being a child of God is forged in the spirit of man to be recognized in the mind and body.

Belief itself is an event. Let me explain. I can believe that a seed has life so I take it and put it in the soil. I can believe the seed has life. I can pray over it. I can speak the word to it, but if the seed doesn’t germinate, it doesn’t matter what I speak or believe because as long as the seed doesn’t germinate, doesn’t take root, doesn’t come out into a shoot, what I believe really doesn’t matter.

In Christianity, belief triggers a series of consequences in us, a series of experiences for man to connect with God. Belief triggers the rebirth of the spirit of man and the spirit of God to engage in communion. Belief leads to an experience and that experience is the journey to which Jesus is calling us.Â

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:28-29 NIV)
